Rock 'n' Roll Plus Gleaming Chrome At Wintersun Festival

The Annual Wintersun Festival held at the border towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads has drawn thousands of nostalgic revelers to celebrate the best of the 50’s and 60’s.

Australia's leading Rock & Roll retro event celebrated with more than 100 bands and performers, dancing, movies, and competitions over eleven days.

Live bands including Shuffle Boys, Atomic Cruisers and Route 66 rocked them in the aisles with swing, rockabilly and rock n roll greats from the 50’s and 60’s.

The free entertainment was spread over five open air stages and performances at various venues including Kirra Sports Club, Coolangatta Hotel, Twin Towns Services Club in Tweed Heads.

Since it’s inception in 1978 the Wintersun Festival has grown to include a retro motor show featuring almost 1500 Hot Rods, Custom and Classic Cars.

Retro car lovers meet to show their works of art in gleaming chrome, conduct road trips in the green hills of the Gold Coast hinterland and hold a grand parade through the streets of Coolangatta.

Wintersun 2008 will culminate with the huge Best of Wintersun Concert tomorrow.
