Murasaki Japanese Teppanyaki Restaurant In Broadbeach

Murasaki Japanese Restaurant in Broadbeach is much more than just sushi. It is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, with indoor and outdoor tables and counter seating, where the flash of leaping flames offers a warm welcome on chilly nights.
The food is cooked at the teppanyaki station with all the flair and showmanship of a magician, as the chef juggles the utensils and condiments, catching the salt shaker in his hat and creating a volcano from onion rings with flames shooting from the top.
The extensive menu features popular favourites such as spring rolls, crumbed calamari and special fried rice. Japanese specialities include wakame salad, tuna or salmon sashimi, and one of my favourites, cured eel unagi.
Main courses range from twenty to thirty dollars and include teriyaki chicken, octopus or cuttlefish, hot and spicy prawns or scallops and sweet chilli steak, chicken or fish.
Vegetarian dishes available include agedashi tofu, tempura vegetables, miso soup and edamame bean curd. Meat lovers can also choose from teppan steak, lamb, kangaroo or crocodile. Murasaki also boasts reasonably priced lunchtime specials which are all served with steamed rice, salad and miso soup.
The dessert menu features green tea ice cream, black sesame ice cream and tempura fried ice cream but we didn’t try them as we went next door to Starbucks for coffee and cake.
Murasaki Teppanyaki Restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and reservations can be made on 07 5538 8918. Winner of the Best Specialty Restaurant in the Gold Coast People’s Choice Restaurant Awards in 2009, Murasaki is located at 91 Surf Parade, Broadbeach, on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
