Monster Trucks Thunder Down Under
January 3rd 2009 06:00
Six 1500 horsepower Monster Trucks are set to tear up Parklands Showgrounds as they crush a path of destruction through all obstacles tonight. A bit of wet weather won’t dampen the enthusiasm of National Monster Truck champion Clive Featherby when he steers his Outback Thunda into the arena for the 1st show in the 2009 Monsters Tour of Destruction.
Six monstrous machines will be supported by The Sky Freestyle motocross stunt team and the Scooby Doo Mystery machine. This jet powered van that shoots a 20 metre jet of fire hot enough to melt a car, which is exactly what it will do on the arena tonight, to the unfortunate car parked behind it. “It has a Viper Jet motor which burns 600 litres of fuel in about five minutes,” Mr Featherby said.
Gates open at 5pm and tickets are available at the gate for $35 for adults and $25 for kids. A can of coke will set you back a whopping $5. Add a Pluto pup and fairy floss and you’re gone for nearly twenty bucks, although the casual staff earn just $12 per hour cash in hand. No super, no tax, no workcover.
Carny folk eh…?
