INXS Rocks At The V8 Supercar Race In Townsville
July 16th 2010 04:27
It was a case of race by day and rock all night at the Sucrogen Townsville 400 last weekend, with headline act INXS performing on Saturday night. V8 Supercar stars were also competing, with Jamie Whincup and Mark Winterbottom taking wins.
The second-running of the North Queensland event once again drew big crowds and delivered exciting racing, and while not taking a win, James Courtney's results at the weekend combined with Whincup's early Sunday race exit due to mechanical failure to see the Ford driver's championship lead extended as the series heads into a mid-season break.
Next on the calendar for the Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series is the L & H 500 in September, followed by the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 100 in early October and then the Armor All Gold Coast 600 over Friday October 22 to Sunday October 24.
All of the international drivers for the new look Armor All Gold Coast 600 are set to arrive on the Gold Coast on the Sunday before the event and will be involved in a week of activity, including a full-day test at Queensland Raceway on Wednesday, October 20.
The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will include two 300km races on a shorter track on Saturday and Sunday of the event, with the international drivers required to complete a minimum of 30% of each of the races.
Tickets are now on sale for the Armor All Gold Coast 600, with Friday admission tickets starting from just $49 and three day passes from just $136, with each ticket providing admission to not only the day’s racing but also the same night’s entertainment line-up at 600 Sounds.
