I Love Hooters Surprisingly Good Food
March 4th 2011 06:02
Hooters have long been established in the United States as themed restaurants and sports bars, and now they are in Australia, with stores in Parramatta in Sydney and Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, and a new outlet opening in Penrith in May. Generous portions of quality food, a party atmosphere and the world famous Hooters girls all combine to make a memorable occasion.
I was surprised by the quality of the food at Hooters. The menu features a half kilo or kilogram of marinated pork, beef or lamb ribs, tender aged steaks, grain fed beef burgers and Hooters famous buffalo chicken wings. Seafood such as wild caught tuna, salmon steaks and barbeque prawns are available as well as Mexican dishes including quesadillas, enchiladas and nachos. A wide variety of side dishes include curly fries, onion rings, cheese sticks, garlic bread and fried pickles are also offered.
Hooters is fully licensed and also serves takeaway meals. The prices for main courses range from around $15AU up to $49.95 for a full kilogram of barbequed pork ribs. Another surprise was the number women, and of kids running around the place, until I discovered that mums eat free on Mondays and kids eat free on Tuesdays.
Not only are the Hooters girls beautiful in their tight t-shirts and orange hot pants, but they go out of their way to oblige, posing for photographs, performing song and dance routines, autographing merchandise and entertaining the kids; as well as waiting on tables.
As a memento of your visit, Hooters merchandise, including calendars, apparel, badges and drink coolers, are all available in store or online.
