Gold Coast Titans Defeat Benji Marsalls Wests Tigers

The Gold Coast Titans celebrated their final home game of the regular season with a hard fought win over the Wests Tigers at Skilled Park on Saturday. After just one loss at home all season, the Titans are unassailable in third place with a chance to move into second in the final round of the regular season. The Tigers shocked the Titans fans with early tries to Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah, to take a 12-nil lead after just 10 minutes.
The Titans responded with tries to Scott Prince and Preston Campell to level the scores. Tigers went into half time leading 16-12 after a try to Rhys Hanbury in the 39th minute.
In the second half, tries to Princey and Luke O’Dwyer regained the lead for the Titans, but Farah and Hanbury both scored a second try to tie the score at 24 all.
Tries to Matt Rogers, who played at fullback, and Sam Tagataese in the final ten minutes broke the deadlock, for the Titans to win 36-24 and to take the Les corrowa shield.
Titans will travel to Brookvale to play the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in round 26.
The Sea Eagles will no doubt want revenge for their narrow loss to the Titans at Skilled Park in round 11, in which a dubious penalty against Matt Orford cost Manly the game.
