It has been over six months since little Frodo, the female koala joey, came into care at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. Wildlife veterinarian Dr Amber Gillett's assessment of Frodo revealed she had sustained a fractured skull and significant damage to the stomach and intestines as a result of being shot with what appeared to be the spray of a shot gun. X-rays revealed approximately 15 pellets scattered throughout her body.

Six months later and staff at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital are amazed at how far Frodo has come. Weighing a tiny 1.9kg upon admission, little Frodo has overcome horrific injuries and health challenges and is ready to return to the wild.

"I am so happy that Frodo is ready to be released; she has come such a long way from the sick little girl that was admitted to me here at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital six months ago," Dr Amber said.

Dr Amber carried out a final veterinary assessment on Frodo for an overall progress check, and to tag and micro-chip the youngster.

Frodo captured the hearts of people all around the world who have followed her progress from the moment she was admitted to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital want to extend a huge thank you to all those who donated towards Frodo's recovery.

You can donate to other koalas like Frodo who are in care at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital or support the Greens Party effort to list koalas as vulnerable.
