Irwin Racing's Lee Holdsworth will be reunited with French IndyCar star Simon Pagenaud at October's Armor All Gold Coast V8 Supercar event.
Pagenaud teamed with Lee Holdsworth in last year’s Gold Coast race and helped steer the pair to a third place podium finish. The IndyCar series driver will again join Holdsworth for the twin 300km endurance races, this time in the Stone Brothers Racing #4 Irwin Racing Falcon.
The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will see each of the 28 V8 Supercar stars paired with an international driver for the third endurance event of the V8 Supercar Championship Series calendar.
Lee Holdsworth said that Simon Pagenaud’s familiarity with the V8 Supercars will definitely help.
“I’m really pleased to have Simon come back and drive with me as we did pretty well last year with a podium finish,” he said.
Simon Pagenaud first raced on the streets of the Gold Coast in 2007 as part of the Champ Car World Series with the Team Australia outfit. He said he was ecstatic to compete again in such a great event at the Gold Coast as he had a fantastic experience last year in theV8’s.
“Lee and I really went along well last year and I managed to bring a surf board home. I will plan on bringing my A game to the table and hopefully aim for two surfboards this year,” he said.
“Lee is an awesome driver and I look forward to helping him secure the points he will need at the end of the year for his championship.”
The 2012 Armor All Gold Coast 600 will be held on the streets of Surfers Paradise on 19-21 October. Armor All Gold Coast 600 is supported by the Queensland Government through Events Queensland as part of a growing calendar of sporting, cultural and regional events across the state.
