Chocolate Risotto - Nutritious Homemade Dessert
January 12th 2010 05:35
Risotto is a traditional Italian dish made with short grain Arborio rice. Usually served as a savoury dish, such as mushroom risotto, I have finally perfected a nutritious rice desert. In the following recipe, with step by step pictures, I demonstrate chocolate risotto suitable for kids. Variations on chocolate risotto include the addition of nuts, fruit or alcohol.
Ingredients
100g Arborio Rice
20g Butter
550ml Milk
30g Sugar
50g Chocolate
Method
Simmer the milk.
Melt the butter in a pot and add the unwashed rice, stirring until the rice is coated.
Add about a quarter of the milk and allow it to re-boil, stirring frequently.
Add more milk, a bit at a time, until it is all absorbed in approximately 20 minutes.
Remove from the heat and add the sugar and chocolate, stirring in gently.
Allow the risotto to stand briefly before serving.
Chocolate risotto can be served hot or cold.
