Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival
April 21st 2010 02:10
Caxton Street is the home of some of Brisbane’s best loved restaurants and nightclubs and its much-anticipated Seafood and Wine Festival is almost here! People from all over the Great South East are expected to descend on Caxton Street on Sunday 2 May 2010 - the Labour Day weekend - to feast upon an amazing array of seafood selections, from the finest restaurants in Brisbane. Dozens of food outlets will be serving up Seafood Platters, Seared Tasmanian Salmon, Sand Crab and New Zealand Whitebait Fritters, Spicy Chilli Prawn Pizza, Thai Caramelised Prawns, Whole Lobsters, Prawns, Crabs, Oysters, Calamari and much, much more.
It is rare for local business competitors to rally together and work as one street to produce one of Queensland’s iconic annual food, wine and music events. However every May, fifteen local restaurants and eleven street food stalls join forces to sell the best tasting, freshest seafood available. Approx 10 tonnes of Lobster, Moreton Bay Bugs, Crabs, Prawns, Fish, Oysters and Calamari are ready to be delivered to the hard working Chefs on Caxton Street - arguably the busiest people on the day.
Adding an extra touch of class without glass to the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival are Sirromet Wines, who will be showcasing their brand new range of 187ml Vineyard Selection wines in PET bottles. These friendly serving size bottles use the Diamond Clear PET technology to ensure the premium quality of the wines is not compromised. The new plastic bottles use less energy than its glass counterpart, are shatterproof and are 100% recyclable.
The famous Caxton Street Precinct with its renowned nightlife and divine dining is in close proximity to internationally acclaimed Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane Arts Theatre, Barracks Cinema and Cafes, within walking distance of Roma Street, South Bank Parklands, specialty shopping on Latrobe Terrace and on the doorstep of the CBD.
Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA) said “It’s the largest independently produced Street Festival in Brisbane and arguably Queensland”.
Caxton Street is the street that cares having donated close to $100,000.00 for the Courier Mail Children’s Fund since 2007. Support this very worthy cause, take the train and enjoy your day on the street with the music, your mates and the mouth watering seafood.
Three stages and Ten venues, over 40 artists provide the soundtrack for Brisbane’s biggest street party. Bring the family for a slice of musical culture under the Brisbane winter sunshine with jazz, blues, groove and pop from some of Australia’s favourite recording artists. Tickets for the Festival be purchased through the website at www.caxtonstseafoodandwinefestival.com.
