Carmody's at Southport Sharks

October 12th 2007 08:13
Carmody’s Grill is at the Southport Sharks Aussie Rules Club on the corner of Musgrave and Olsen Avenues in Southport on the Gold Coast. This Multi-award wining restaurant specializes in steak and seafood and if you’re a meat lover you can really go for your life.

Seafood is prominently featured on the entrée menu, such as the oysters with crab and camembert mornay, but it is meat dishes that Carmody’s is famous for.

Carmody’s claims to have the best steaks in town, such as the charred rib fillet on the bone ($31.90), or the Jindalee Sirloin with tiger prawns, charred asparagus and béarnaise sauce ($34.90).

Most impressive was Carmody’s own interpretation of the classic Carpet bag. A large eye fillet of beef wrapped in bacon and topped with a Worcestershire cream sauce and accompanied by three large oysters Kilpatrick (33.90).

The rack of lamb encrusted with walnut and goat cheese ($32.90) also rated a favorable mention.

The full menu can be viewed on the web at www.southportsharks.com.au.

A wide and varied selection of wines were available to suit your palate, including a delightful McLaren Vale Tatachilla shiraz.

The dessert menu featured fabulous Apple and strawberry shortcakes ($9.50) and beautiful banana, macadamia and white chocolate pudding ($9.50).

The wait staff were attentive but unobtrusive and the dining room had an ambience of quiet intimacy.

Carmody’s Grill is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and for lunch Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

The prices quoted above are for non-members and members receive significant discounts.

Bookings are essential and can be made on (07) 5532 1155.
