Bindi Irwin Celebrates Her Twelfth Birthday At Australia Zoo
July 28th 2010 07:22
Diminutive environmental campaigner Bindi Irwin, daughter of the late Steve Irwin, turned twelve on Saturday, July 24! It was a day that saw Australia Zoo transformed into Hollywood, with celebrity red carpet action, paparazzi, a host of activities and Terri, Bindi and Robert dressed to impress.
Thousands turned out to help Bindi celebrate and got stuck into Hollywood handprints, movie star makeovers, signing Bindi's GIANT birthday card, stretch limousines and heaps more throughout the day!
The highlight was in the Crocoseum where Bindi was presented with her fabulous Hollywood birthday cake. The crowds were treated to the sight of seeing Terri, Wes and Bindi performing the croc show in their best attire and there was even a chance to see Bindi's feature film debut in ‘Free Willy: Escape from Pirate Cove,’ on the big screen!
"We had a fantastic day," the birthday girl said. "I mean, it's not every day you get to dress up in dresses at the zoo! We're usually in khakis, so we're having a fantastic time."
To top it off - as guests left the Zoo at the end of the day they were served a yummy slice of birthday cake!
Aside from the charismatic Iriwn family, Bindi and the Jungle Girls and the Crocoseum crocodile show, Australia Zoo is arguably one of the best zoos in the country. It boasts an impressive and ever expanding collection of iconic Australian native animals including kangaroos and koalas, casowaries and cockatoos, and even Tasmanian Devils. Not only that, the Asian area includes interactive elephant shows and nine tigers that patrol the park, plus the African savanah is almost ready for its resident cheetahs, rhinos and other big beasts out of Africa.
To coincide with Australia Zoos’ upcoming 40th birthday, visitors to the Zoo in August will receive unlimited entry until the end of 2010.
