A La Carte In The Park -Back At Surfers Paradise
May 10th 2010 07:31
A la Carte In The Park is back on the Gold Coast after going missing in action in 2009, along with A la Carte On The Beach at Coolangatta, due to Council bureaucracy. Mouth watering aromas from an array of culinary styles included Vietnamese, Mexican, Indian, Greek, German, and Italian cuisine. Foodies and families flocked to the free entry event, sampling the fare for as little as four dollars a plate.
Restaurants represented included My Olivers Kitchen, Kouzina Modern Greek, Aztec, Dehli Darbar, Sate House, La Rustica, and Hard Rock Café, an institution in Surfers Paradise. Little Dutch Poffertjes pancakes, Langos Hungarian snapfried bread and even pure vegan food from the Hare Krishna stand were also available for taste tests.
Desserts included fresh Ice Creams, edible works of art by Cupcake Addiction and a variety of pancakes and toppings from Pancakes in Paradise.
Organized by Restaurant And Catering Queensland, in conjunction with Surfers Paradise Festival, A la Carte In The Park was moved from the 2008 event venue at Southport to Lionel Perry Park in the heart of Surfers.
This year the sound of River Jazz was incorporated, and many spectators spread out picnic blankets, ordered a drink at the bar, and settled in to enjoy the music of the Noah Preminger Trio, The West End Composers Collective and internationally acclaimed vocalist Catherine Lambert.
Also available at this year’s food fair was a fantastic recipe book titled ‘Flavours,’ which features the not-so-secret recipes from no less than sixty famous Gold Coast restaurants.
‘Flavours’ is the brainchild of Liz Hamilton, Managing Director of Events Exclusive, and it is marketed through Restaurant and Catering Queensland.
‘There was no shortage of restaurants willing to be featured in the recipe book,’ Ms Hamilton said.
‘They were lining up, but we had to restrict it to sixty,’ she said.

Sorry about that, I don't know how it happened as I have never even heard of the other company.
The link has been corrected to lead to the Cupcake Addicton website.
You deserve the credit for participating. I wish I could say the same for many Gold Coast restaurants that have no presence at food shows and festivals.
Keep up the good work.
